TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The holiday of Indonesia`s independence day is used by Jakarta citizens to visit Setu Babakan, a tourism site, in South Jakarta.
Setu Babakan is a lake located in Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. The site was originally a water reservoir catchment for nearby residential area, but then it was expanded to be the place for the preservation and advancement of the art and culture of Betawi.
Thousands of people crowded Setu Babakan. “There are about 1,000 people visiting the area,” said Hadi Susilo, the site’s supervisor, Wednesday (8/17).
According to him, there was no special agenda at the site since an entertainment stage is routinely held by Dept. of Tourism on Saturday and Sunday.
“We have lenong, mawaris, pencak silat and other Betawi arts on Saturday and Sunday,” he explained.
