TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf), along with the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), holds the Indonesia-Korea Cinema Global Networking on August 10-12, 2016 to serve as a meeting forum for Indonesian and South Korean filmmakers.
“They attend the event to share information, experience, and technology from their own companies,” Bekraf head Triawan Munaf said in a press release on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.
Triawan hopes that the interaction will broaden Indonesian filmmakers’ knowledge about the Korean movie industry.
He added that target participants for the event include local production houses, visual effect companies, computer design companies, and animation studios. The cooperation was also expected to improve Indonesian film quality, quantity, and marketability in the global market.
The event features showcases, production forums, and biz-matching of Korean and Indonesian film companies, allowing one-on-one interaction between filmmakers from both countries. The forum also elaborates regulations and challenges in the Indonesian film industry.
“The development of the film industry in Indonesia over the last few years and the removal of the industry from the negative investment list (DNI) will pose bigger challenges,” said Enda Sulistianti, deputy head of inter-agency relationship at the Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM), when speaking at the forum.
Endah added, the high expectation in quality and quantity films had motivated production houses to set the bar higher for their film productions.
