TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo extended condolences at the passing of General Elections Commission (KPU) chief Husni Kamil Manik. According to President Jokowi, Husni was a figure of integrity.
"I see him as a hard worker," President Jokowi said in a press release received by Tempo on Friday, July 8, 2016.
President Jokowi added that Husni's integrity was reflected during the simultaneous regional elections in December 2015.
Husni passed away at 41 at the Jakarta's Pertamina Hospital (RSPP) on Thursday evening, July 7, 2016. Husni was buried at the Jerk Purut Public Cemetery in South Jakarta.
Husni's brother Muhammad Arfanuddin Manik said that the cause of the death was a blood infection. Husni was diagnosed as suffering from abscess. Arfan said that the abscess was spreading, instead of bursting.
Arfan revealed that his brother did not complain about his illness before it was swelling to his stomach.
