TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-China will help finance nine infrastructure projects by the Indonesian government as part of China's commitment to help fund the development in ASEAN countries.
Out of China's total assistance of US$10 billion to ASEAN, it is likely that, "Indonesia will get US$4 billion in the form of preferential buyer's credit," said Rizal Affandi Lukman, the deputy for international economic cooperation of the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs, said in Jakarta Monday, May 9, 2016.
Meanwhile, the National Development Planning Ministry's foreign funding director Kennedy Simanjuntak said that China will help finance US$1.2 billion-worth of infrastructure projects listed in Indonesia's Blue Book.
The nine projects include the construction of five dams. The first is Pelosika Dam in Konowe, Southeast Sulawesi worth US$2.1 billion, for which China is funding one of its 11 activity packages.
The second reservoir is Jenelata in Gowa, South Sulawesi worth US$2.1 billion, for which China is funding one of 11 development packages. There is also the Rokan Hilir/Lompatan Harimau Dam in Riau that requires an investment of US$2.1 billion, of which China will finance one of its 11 packages.
The fourth is the Jambo Aye Reservoir in Aceh worth US$2.1 billion, where China is funding one of 11 packages; and the fifth is the Bonehulu Dam in Gorontalo worth US$2.1 billion, which China is paying one of 11 packages for.
China will also help with the construction of the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan Section II toll road project worth US$2 billion; the Balinka-Matur-Sianok Canyon Tunnel worth US$1.5 billion; and the procurement of materials for building and rehabilitating bridges worth US$1.5 billion.
The last is the procurement of railways, which requires an investment of US$6.8 billion.
