TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - This week’s long weekend has been used by many residents to travel by commuter line.
Public Relations Office of commuter line train operator PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) Eva Chairunnisa said that the number of commuter line passengers has increased by 15 percent compared to other weekends.
“The number of passengers on 5 and 6 Mei 2016 rose into 700,000 passengers per day,” Eva said on Saturday (7/5).
She added that the surge in the number of passengers were seen in a number of major train stations in Jakarta. On normal days, she said, the number of KRL passengers is only around 600,000 on weekdays and 630,000 passengers during weekend.
Eva added the increase in the number of passengers could be significantly seen g in a number of major stations such as Bogor station, Jakarta Kota station and Tanah Abang station.
"Those stations are favorite destinations because they are located close to tourist destinations and shopping centers,” Eva said.
