TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-A number of Indonesian initiated to sign a petition asking the Nobel Committee to take back Aung San Suu Kyi's Nobel Peace Prize since they disappointed at Suu Kyi’s comment when she found out that she was interviewed by a Muslim.

The petition stated that Suu Kyi's disappointment might be caused by the question asked by the BBC Today's anchor, Mishal Husain, on the hardships experienced by the Rohingya Muslim in Myanmar.

Emerson Yuntho, the petition initiator said, "Suu Kyi's statement might only be one racially-insensitive sentence, but that one sentence was too many, and the meaning is too much for those who love peace." He also saw that Suu Kyi did not mention anything about the human rights violation faced by more than 140,000 Rohingyas.

Another petitioner, Ade Armando said, "I used to admire Aung San Suu Kyi but her attitude on the Rohingya made the Nobel not suitable for her […]"

Hanif Fauzi, who also sign the petition, said similar comment, "a Peace Nobel Prize is only for a truly peace lover."

Currently, more than 16,000 people have signed the petition while it needs about 9,000 more signs to reach total of 25,000 signs.
