TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A new Keris Museum on Jalan Bhayangkara Solo, will be open on October 2016, according to Eny Tyasni Suzana, Chief of the Surakarta Culture and Tourism Agency on Monday, March 28, 2016. Keris is a Javanese traditional weapon that have distinctive-blade patterning and known for its wavy blade.
"We have scheduled for the new Keris museum project to be carried out starting on June 2016. The project will take three months, so the project will be completed on September 2016, and on October 2016 it can be opened," Eny said.
The museum, which costs Rp 20 billion to construct, is expected to attract more tourists to Solo.
Eny said that currently, Solo's main attraction for domestic tourists include the Taru Jurug Zoo, the Balemkambang Park, and the Surakarta Hadiningrat Sultanate Palace. Meanwhile, foreign tourists often visited the Mangkunegaran Temple, Triwindu Ngarsopura Market, and the Sultanate Palace.
"Hopefully, the new museum could add more tourist attraction in Solo," Eny said.
Eny added that Solo regional government expected to attract a total of 4.5 million tourists in 2016.
