PT KAI in Need of 1,144 Employees to Operate Trans Sulawesi Train

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), state railways company, is seeking 1,144 employees to operate Trans Sulawesi Train that is currently in the construction.

“The president has advised PT KAI to empower the nation’s youth generation in Sulawesi by recruiting them as its employees who will later operate Trans Sulawesi,” Vice President Corporate Communication PT KAI Agus Komarudin said in Jakarta on Thursday, March 24.

PT KAI has been opening recruitment which will be held in several stages in Sulawesi to meet the company`s demand.

Agus said, for the first stage, PT KAI would cooperate with the University of Hasanuddin to hold a job fair on March 28-29 in Hasanuddin Tamalanrea campus, Makassar.

KAI will be recruiting 179 employees for the first stage; 70 employees for KA Trans Sulawesi locomotive engineer candidates, and 109 employees for administration division which will be posted in all PT KAI area.

The government is currently constructing the first railway in Sulawesi. The 145km long railway connecting Makassar and Parepare is aimed to be operated in 2018.
