BRI Pays Rp7.6tn in Dividends

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-State-owned Bank Rakyat Indonesia or BRI paid out Rp7,619 trillion in dividends to its shareholders. The amount is equivalent to Rp311.66 per share and 30 percent of the company's total net profit in 2015.

BRI president director Ashmawi Syam said the dividend payout was approved by the majority shareholders during the annual general meeting held in in Jakarta, yesterday.

The distributed profit increased significantly compared to the year before. Last year, BRI paid out Rp7.27 trillion in dividends from 2014's profit.  

Of the 2015 dividend, the government, who owns 56.75 percent stake in BRI, will get Rp4.323 trillion.

In 2015, BRI's total net profit amounted to Rp25.2 trillion. After the 30-percent is taken out to pay the dividends, the remaining Rp17.6 trillion will be used as retained earnings.
