TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperatives Agency (KUMKMP) has planned to build a culinary center, called “Lenggang Jakarta”, in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
“This year, we will build Lenggang Jakarta in Kemayoran. The development will be completed before this year’s Jakarta Fair,” Jakarta KUMKMP Agency head Irwandi said in Jakarta on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
According to Irwandi, the culinary center development will be financed by private sectors, instead of the Jakarta Budget.
“The development fund will not be taken from the Jakarta Budget, but from private companies’ corporate social responsibility progams,” Irwandi explained.
Irwandi added that the agency was still collecting data on the number of street vendors to be relocated to the culinary center. Irwandi revealed that the agency would provide street vendors with training and coaching to guarantee the safety of their food ingredients. The agency would also require street vendors to obtain certificates from the Food and Drugs Monitoring Agency (BPOM).
Before the relocation, the Lenggang Jakarta culinary center had been established at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, where visitors can enjoy various dishes and beverages. The culinary center has implemented non-cash transactions, instead of cash ones.
