TEMPO.CO, Padang - Padang City Government has recommended 24 restaurants that can be visited by visitors to the city.
The city government has also put the label ‘Recommended’ in those restaurants.
"From 126 restaurants that we surveyed in the first quarter of the year, only 24 restaurants meet our criteria,” said Head of Padang Tourism Agency Medi Iswandi on Friday (11/3).
According to Medi, the criteria are among others the restaurant is clean, it has a clear price list, it has a building permit, it pays taxes regularly and it has supporting facilities such as parking space, a praying room and toilets.
He also said that the recommendation would be given sustainably.
Restaurants that already meet the criteria will be recommended to give security and comfort the visitors, Medi said.
He also said that Padang city government would also announce the recommended restaurants in billboards and in the media.
“Visitors can now choose. They will visit restaurants with the label ‘Recommended,” he added.
In the meantime, Padang Deputy Mayor Emzalmi said that the city’s culinary tourism potential is quite big because around 55 percent of 3.5 million tourists who visit Padang want to enjoy West Sumatera cuisine.
“We cannot overlook the potentials. Visitors always look for Padang restaurants when they visit city,” Emzalmi said on Wednesday (10/3).
Emzalmi also said that good facilities and infrastructures must be prepared so visitors can culinary delights that the city offers in a comfortable way.
