TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State mining company PT Bukit Asam Tbk (IDX: PTBA) aims to boost its sales performances amid the decline in coal sales prices. Bukit Asam President director Milawarma is confident the company can boost its sales volume to 29.17 million tons this year.
"Our main consideration is capacity," Milawarma said in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 9, 2016.
Milawarma said that Bukit Asam has 7.29 billion tons of coal resources, with around 1.99 billion tons of reserves.
Another motivation to increase sales is the company's enhanced capacity in the downstream and upstream sectors, such as ports and railways, as well as the coal handling system.
"The capacity of Tarahan Port in Bandar Lampung has increased to 25 million tons per year," Milawarma said.
Milawarma believed that the only real competition for Asia's coal market is only between Indonesia and Australia. And he is confident that Bukit Asam can strive in the competition.
In 2015, Bukit Asam's sales volume reached 19.17 million tons, a 7.0 percent increase from the year before. Fifty-three percent or 10.13 million tons of coal were sold to the domestic market, and the remainder went to export.
Corporate secretary Joko Pramono said that last year's coal production volume reached 19.17 million tons, an increase of 20 percent from 2014.
