Bali Gear Up for the Seventh Denpasar Film Festival

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - For the seventh consecutive times the Denpasar Film Festival (DFF) will be held in Bali. The festival will be filled with documentary film training and coaching. "The training will involve Tonny Trimarsanto, participants will be camping on the side of Buyan Lake," said Agung Bawantara, Director of the DFF on Wednesday, February 3, 2016.

The training program will be aimed at a selected group of junior-high and high school students. During the course of the training, the students will be instructed to shoot their own two to four minutes of documentary movie. After the training, the participants will be coached to create a documentary about the city of Denpasar. The students will also receive funds to produce the movie.

The festival will also held a documentary movie competition with two categories, public and students. For the public category, the movie that will be entered in the competition must be 20 to 40 minutes long while for the students category the movie must be five to 10 minutes long. "The best documentary will receive a Rp. 20 million prize," Agung said.

Ni Nyoman Sujati, Secretary of the Denpasar Culture Agency said that the event is expected to encourage Bali's youth, especially those living in Denpasar, to creative. "Movie has become an important part to make Denpasar as a creative city with cultural wisdom," Sujati said. The festival is also expected to help to document the city's richness along with its problems.
