Parahyangan University Students Conquer Aconcagua Summit

TEMPO.CO, Bandung - A group of female hikers from the team of The Women of Indonesia’s Seven Summits Expedition formed by the Parahyangan Catholic University students, have succeeded in reaching the summit of the fourth highest mountains in the world. An Indonesian Flag was erected on Aconcagua Mountain’s summit in Argentina, at 6,962 meters above sea level (mdpl).

A member of the expidition's publication team in Bandung, Alfons Yoshio, said that the team reached the peak of Aconcagua on January 30, 2016, at 05:45 pm local time, or 3:45am Sunday, January 31, 2016, Western Indonesia Time. "The team started their journey at 04:30 local time, they travelled for more than 12 hours to reach the summit," Alfons said through a press release on Sunday evening.

The team, consists of three female hikers: Fransiska Dmitri Inkiriwang (22 year-old), Mathilda Dwi Lestari (22 year-old), and Dian Indah Carolina (21 year-old). Latest news received via satellite phone on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at 09:11 pm Western Indonesia Tome, the team has reached the Refugio Berlin camp to take a rest before descending to Mendoza on Monday, February 1, 2016.

The team reported through satellite phone that all of its members are in perfect health condition, and that they are planning to fly back to Indonesia from Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 5, 2016.

The Aconcagua Mountain is the highest mountain in South America located in Mendoza Province, Argentina. The Aconcagua Mountain is the fourth summit to have successfully been reached by the team.
