TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Biennale 2015 art exhibition, which was held from November 15, 2015, until January 17, 2016, was attended by more than 30,000 visitors.
"Majority of the visitors are young people, Jakarta urban society," said Vicky Rosalina, the Organizing Director of the event on Sunday evening, January 17, 2016, during the closing ceremony at the Sarinah warehouse.
Rosalina also said that the public's enthusiasm towards the biannual exhibition can be seen from many positive receptions in social media.
Rosalina added that the point of organizing the exhibition at the Sarinah warehouse was to bring the visitors closer to the artworks being exhibited. "This year's Biennale is more 'organic' compared to previous years where the artists collaborate with citizens to create art," Rosalina said.
The exhibition involves 70 artists, foreign and domestic, with a theme of "Maju Kena, Mundur Kena: Bertindak Sekarang", the exhibition was intended to look at the present day without having to be trapped in memories of the past, or utopia of the future.
