TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said that the Taman Impian Jaya Ancol amusement park could be a world-class theme park.
“We expect to have an international amusement park by 2018. To me, Ancol is a complete amusement park, because everything can be found here,” Ahok said in his speech on Thursday night, December 31, 2015.
Ahok hopes the world-class amusement park would keep domestic tourists from spending their holidays abroad.
Earlier, Ahok inaugurates three inscriptions in Jakarta, namely the Ancol Lagoon, the Container Public School, and the Dragon Slide ride in Ancol’s Atlantis Waterpark.
Ahok added that the amusement park in Ancol was far more beautiful than that in Singapore and other countries. Ahok suggested that the island in Ancol could be renovated in order to improve the tourist destination.
Ahok was warmly welcomed by visitors during the 2016 New Year’s Eve celebration in Ancol. Ahok arrived in Ancol on 11:30 p.m. on a boat owned by the City Transportation Agency.
