TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hotel occupancy rate in Denpasar and other areas in Bali are increasing up to 90 percent during the Christmas and New Year holliday season. "Occupancy rate is quite good because many [people] from major cities in Java went to vacation in Bali," said Kurniawan Hari Wibowo, manager of a hotel in Denpasar on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.
Kurniawan said that on normal days, hotel occupancy rate is relatively low at fewer than 40 percent. Kurniawan explained that during the holiday season, the average hotel rates in Bali ranges between Rp. 500,000 to Rp. 1 million per night.
Kurniawan admitted that the number of tourist visit in Bali often increases during New Year’s eve. Consequently, hotel owners would generate higher profit during these times.
For 2016, the Bali tourism agency has set a target of 4.2 million foreign tourists visit. Head of the Tourism Agency Anak Agung Gede Yuniartha Putra said that the number was not final because the agency is yet to provide a detailed calculation. Previously, the Agency had set a target of 4 million foreign tourist visit for 2015.
"To achieve next year's target, we have received help in terms of promotion from the central government in addition to preparing an annual tourism calendar for 2016," Yuniartha said.
