TEMPO.CO, Labuan Bajo - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo inaugurated Komodo airport in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara province.
Member of the Presidential Communication Team Sukardi Rinakit said that the President hoped that the inauguration of the airport, which uses State Budget for the construction, could support accelerate economic development in the region.
"This airport cans serve as a gate for tourists to enjoy the beauty of the beaches and undersea in Labuan Bajo and the beauty of Lake Kelimutu, to visit Komodo national park in Komodo island and Merah Mudah beach,” the President said in a written statement read by Sukardi on Sunday (27/12).
Previously, the number of tourist to Labuan Bajo was only 150,000 tourists and now it is expected that 1.5 million tourists per year would visit Labuan Bajo and its surrounding areas.
