TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) has launched a strategic plan to enhance the effectiveness of drug and food monitoring for the 2015-2019 period. BPOM main secretary Reni Indriani said that for the 2015-2019 period, BPOM will try to change the paradigm in monitoring.
"The monitoring system is changed from the reactive Watchdog Control to Pro-active Control," said Reni on Monday, December 14, 2015.
Reni explained that the new monitoring system will based on potential risks and focused on prevention. The changes will also supported by encouraging businesses to communicate possible risks of choosing the wrong product to consumer. "Pro-active steps can take the form of health promotion, communicating risks and others," said Reni.
BPOM will also improve regulations on drug and food, organize its Norms, Standards, Procedures and Criteria (NSPK), implements data integration and enhance its main data analysis and risk-based support.
