TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Online ojek service provided Go-Jek has started operating on the streets of Yogyakarta. Prasetyo, Go-Jek representative official said that Go-Jek driver registration process had taken place since last week. "This is the last day," Prasetyo said on Monday, November 16, 2015.
Tadeus Nugraha, Go-Jek's Operational Vice President, claimed that Go-Jek has officially operated in Yogyakarta on Monday, November 16, 2015, with an armada consisting of 200 motorcycle taxi drivers.
Tadeus said that Yogya was chosen as Go-Jek's business expansion target because it is one of the major tourist destination. "Hundreds of students come to Yogyakarta every year. Yogyakarta is adaptive to change. It is classified as an 'Urban City',"Tadeus said.
Head of Yogyakarta Transportation Agency Wirawan Hario Yudho, said that Go-Jek will be allowed to operate without additional permits "because there is no regional regulation on ojek."
