TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has reported that the annual banking credit growth for October 2015 stood at 11.1 percent. This is an increase compared to September's annual growth rate of 10.9 percent.
OJK chief executive for banking supervision Nelson Tampubolon yesterday said that since September there has been a significant increase in credit growth. As the government's capex spending continues to rise in quarter four, it is likely that the rate of loan disbursement will follow.
Nelson hopes that by the end of this year credit growth could reach 13 percent. "If the growth is stable, credit could grow by 12-13 percent," he said.
The OJK and the Maritime and Fishery Ministry yesterday launched 'Jaring', a program to enhance financing in the fishery and maritime sector. The program is also aimed at expanding financial access to the public and improves the welfare of fishermen and MSME players.
There are eight banks involved in the project: Bank Mandiri, Bank BRI, BNI, BTPN, Danamon, Permata, Bukopin, and Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sulselbar.
Bank Mandiri has disbursed Rp624 billion in credits to the fishery sector as per September 2015. The bank's vice president for micro banking, Sumedi, said Mandiri's total financing for the maritime sector reaches Rp16.8 trillion.
