TEMPO.CO, Pangkalpinang-Tuesday, October 20, Terra Aqua Satellite in Bangka Belitung detects 39 hotspots, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Pangkalpinang recorded.
BMKG coordinating staff for Analysis Unit in Pangkalpinang, Deas Achmad Rivai, said that there are 12 hotspots in South Bangka.
The hotspots are dynamic, it can change at anytime depend on the temperature and the activity of forest and land fire in dry season, he said.
In Central Bangka, there are eight hotspots found while there are four hotspots in Belitung Regency. 11 hotspots found in Bangka Regency, and there are three hotspots in West Bangka, Deas added.
East Belitung has the least hotspot "There is only one hotspot in East Belitung, it’s in Gantung sub district," he said.
He appeals people to not execute forest and land fires; the air will be polluted and it suffers people’s health.
"We hope there will be no more people burn the forest and land, because it will be hard extinguishing fire as the wind blows so hard in this season”, he said.
