Indonesian Writers Share Their Stories at Frankfurt Bookfair

TEMPO.CO, Frankfurt - Litterateur, novelist and feminist Nurhayati Sri Hardini Siti Nukatin –popularly known as NH Dini- and writer Ahmad Tohari shared their stories at writers gathering In Conversation Kampong and City Tales at Indonesian Pavillion in Frankfurt Bookfair, Wednesday, October 14.
NH Dini, who started writing since she was in the third grade, said that she feels proud for Indonesia to be the Guest of Honour at the world’s biggest book fair. She also said that she is proud to be part of it although she was in doubt as first due to her dependency to the wheel chair.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Tohari whose notable book ‘Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk’ have been published in various languages and adapted to the big screen, explained the story behind the novel. He asserted that he does not want to get involved in politics but he expresses sympathy to the victims of oppression by those in power.
