TEMPO.CO, Semarang-An ancient site in Duduhan Village, Semarang is suspected to be remnants of the Ancient Mataram Kingdom. The Center for National Archeology stated that the site is similar to other sites discovered in the northern coast of Java.
“It is possibly remnants of Hindu Mataram and the Buddhist,” said Chief of Research Team, Agustijanto Indrajaya on Thursday, October 8.
Agustijanto said that Duduhan Site in Mijen can be a historical monument that remarks the existence of Ancient Mataram Kingdom in the northern coast of Java. Agustijanto said that the temple-like site is similar to a relic discovered in Tuntang Site, Semarang, which dated back to 1760s.
Duduhan Site was found back in 1976. On September, the Center for National Archeology dug out the western part of the site, finding what seems to be the foundation and entrance of the temple.
