TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - "Good night Jakarta. It’s good to be back. It's been a long time," Jon Bon Jovi greeted the hysterical Jakarta fans while the familiar intro music played in the background at Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Friday night, September 11. The famed glam rock icon made their come back to Jakarta after the first concert back in twenty years.
Crowds of fans were let in at 17:00, and Indonesian singer Judika opened the “Bon Jovi Live!” concert with the national anthem of Indonesia, “Indonesia Raya” to boost euphoria among audiences who spontaneously stood and sang along the anthem. Beside Judika, a Youtube artist Sam Tsui also performed in the concert opening.
After around 30-minute delay that brought an anxious atmosphere among audiences, the legendary band finally hit the stage with their latest singles such as That's The Water Made Me, Who Says You Can't Go Home and Lost Highway.
“Halo Apa Kabar?” said Bon Jovi in Indonesian when presenting the third song.
The venue was fired up when the band sang the fifth song ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’.
“Are you with me out there?” shouted Jon before singing the first single from their 1986 album.
Performing without their original guitarist Richie Sambora who left in 2013, Bon Jovi’s members appeared in a more macho look with arm-less black vests costumes that showed off muscular arms.
All in all, Bon Jovi succeed in bewitching the audiences at the concert that opened their Asia Tour. Sound system worked well, Jon’s vocal was stable, and a fan made a scene in the festival class by proposing to a lover when ‘I’ll be Your Saturday Night’ was performed.
After total of 18 songs, the concert was closed at 22:30 with ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ and a two-hour sing along session.
