TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - May Day rally on Friday this week left an ugly trail of garbage behind, at the national monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta.
At least 17,000 labors flocked to the national monument, producing tons of garbage scattered in all corners of Monas.
Leftover of food, plastic bottles, and cardboards are scattered in many parts of the national monument and emitted bad aroma.
Maulana, one of the sanitary workers at the national monument, said that that the cleaning task was overwhelming. He also said that he lacked garbage carts and sacks, which are used to collect the garbage.
In addition to that, he said that there are few sanitary workers tasked to clean the area around the national monument.
