Flights Diverted to Pekanbaru Following Crash at Batam Airport

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several flights bound for Batam's Hang Nadim International Airport have been diverted to Pekanbaru, following an incident involving a training plane that crashed on the airport's runway on Tuesday morning.
"Several incoming flights have been diverted to Pekanbaru due to the crash," Pekanbaru's Sultan Syarif Kasum II Airport's duty manager, Hasnan, told Antara.
Hasnan explained that as per Tuesday afternoon two flights due for Batam Airport had been diverted, which were Garuda Indonesia flight GA152 from Jakarta, and GA270 from Medan.
GA152 landed safely at Pekanbaru Airport on 11.15 local time, while GA270 landed five minutes later at 11.20 local time.
It is known that Hang Nadim Airport has been temporarily shut when a training airplane crashed upon landing on its runway at 10.25 local time.
