TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Minister Marwan Jafar, said that on April 2015, every village in Indonesia will receive around Rp 750 million from the central government through regular village fund allocation from the regional budget.
"This April, around 70,045 villages will receive Rp750 million [each]," said Marwan on Friday, February 6, 2015.
He explained that before receiving the fund, village chiefs and their units will be accompanied by facilitators from the National Program for Community Empowerment (PNPM).
"Up until April, they will be accompanied so that they can plan how those funds will be used," he said.
He added that village chiefs will have direct authority over the funds. "If there are misappropriations, village chiefs will take full responsibility," he said. "They also be audited by the Supreme Audit Agency."
The ministry will has also signed an MoU with the Indonesian Accountant Association to monitor these funds. "We also ask for assistance from the Corruption Eradication Commission for supervision," he said.
