TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Razman Arif Nasution, one of the lawyers of beleaguered National Police chief hopeful Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan, said there had been no decision yet as to whether his client would answer the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday, January 30, 2015. Razman, however, added that according to last night’s conversation with Budi the latter planned to skip the summons.
“Last night there were plans not to heed the summons. But until today’s early morning there had been no final results yet during our meeting,” he told Tempo on Friday, January 30, 2015. “I hope there will be a final decision by 7 a.m. today,” he added.
Razman said Budi planned to skip the questioning due to multiple irregularities in the summons, among them the date of the summons and the reception procedures. “We will explain further about this in a press conference,” he said, adding that the press conference would be held at the National Police headquarters at 9 a.m.
Razman explained there had been no special preparations ahead of the questioning, and that Budi would be quizzed in relation to the gratification and bribery allegations against him. The anti-graft body claimed Budi had bank accounts with figures exceeding his capacity as a police officer.
The KPK has summoned seven active police officers in its investigation into Budi’s case. Yet until Thursday Insp. Gen. (ret) Syahtria Sitepu had been the only one answering the summons. Syahtria was non-committal when journalists asked him about his questioning.
