TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo called on regional governments to stay alert for landslides following extreme weather these days.

"We all have to remain vigilant. It’s not only one place or five places but hundreds of places in the country, especially in Java, are prone to landslides,” Jokowi said at Halim Perdanakusumah airport before flying to Bajarnegara, Sunday, December 14, 2014.

For the landslide that hit Banjarnegara, Jokowi said that the government was focused on the speed of evacuation process.

He also said that there have not been any problems in sending aids to the disaster site.

“For assistance, we have no problems. What’s most important is the speed of evacuation. Until this morning, I received reports of 20 people died in the landslide that have been evacuated,” President Jokowi said.

As previously reported, Jokowi flew to Banjarnegara to visit the disaster site. Jokowi was accompanied by First Lady Iriana Widodo and Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto.

As of Sunday, 6:30am, at least 20 people have been confirmed dead, 11 people are injured, 4 people suffer from minor injuries and 88 people remain unaccounted for. From 20 dead victims, 16 of them have been identified while four have not been identified.
