TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama welcomed London Mayor Boris Johnson when he was visiting Jakarta. According to Jokowi, Johnson had wanted to visit Jakarta since long ago.
“When I was the governor a year ago, Mayor Johnson had wanted to visit Jakarta,” Jokowi said at Hotel Indonesia Roundabout on Sunday, November 30, 2014.
Jokowi revealed that the Johnson sent him a letter expressing London administration’s intention to strengthen the ties and invest in Jakarta.
“He sent me a letter [about the intention], and I replied be my guest,” Jokowi said.
Therefore, the cooperation plan between Jakarta and London will be carried out by Ahok. Jokowi added that when he was the Jakarta governor, he intended to visit London to learn about the Capital city administration.
Johnson revealed that he was glad being in Jakarta. Johnson praised the Car Free Day in Jakarta, as an excellent program.
“I’m impressed with Jakarta,” he said.
