TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hasrullah recalled the moment when his house was set on fire four years ago. The fire was set by a group of unidentified people. Hasrullah shared his traumatic experience in the gathering event for writers in Makassar entitled ‘Gathering of 100 of Makassar Writers’.
“That was the consequence of being a writer,” Hasrullah said at the Training Center Building of Alauddin Islamic State University, Makassar.
Hasrullah said that he was just wrote some criticism toward then government. However, the terror did not stop him from writing.
“I have wrote 400 articles published by local and national media,” he said.
Hasrullah believes that he can send many messages through his literacy works, as well as part of religious practice.
Another writer, Rusdin Tompo, shared a different story. Rusdin, who had published some poetry anthologies, said that he have had interest on literacy wince he was in elementary school. He even discussed about poetry with his classmates.
The gathering became the event where writers shared their experiences in swimming the literacy and publication world. Male and female, as well as senior and young writers had their opportunity to share and learn from each other.
