TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) doubted a statement from the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla pair’s transition team deputy chief, Andi Widjajanto, stating if Jokowi was inaugurated as the elected president, they would immediately issue a government regulation to modify regulations on human rights, especially to form a Human Rights adhoc court.
Kontras coordinator Harry Azhar doubted Andi’s statement since he claimed to have met with the commission discussing about appointing AM Hendropriyono as a member of the transition team last week. "We want a direct statement from Jokowi," Harry said yesterday. He also doubted Jokowi’s commitment to form a Human Rights adhoc court since it was merely a statement from Andi.
If the court was actually formed, Harry urges Jokowi to encourage attorneys to prosecute a number of generals who have been suspected, amongst others Jokowi’s transition team adviser and also the former head of National Intelligence Agency (BIN) AM Hendropriyono, Jokowi’s supporter from a coalition party and former Indonesian Military (TNI) commander Gen. (Ret.) Wiranto, and former commander of the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) Prabowo Subianto.
