TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Israel on Tuesday launched air strikes to eradicate Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.
According to Reuters, Palestinian officials said Israel carried out an operation called “Operation Protective Edge” and bombarded more than 30 targets in the Gaza Strip for around one hour before dawn.
Scores of rockets struck some houses in the southern Gaza Strip, including one house confirmed to belong to a Hamas member. No deaths have been reported, but at least nine people suffered shrapnel injuries.
Before the attacks occurred, families in the targeted home had received a phone call from an Israeli intelligence officer warning them to leave the house because it would be bombed, and the family evacuated in time.
Hamas was furious with the attacks and threatened an “earthquake” in response to Israel’s attacks by firing a rocket at a southern Israeli town.
