TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Environment Ministry (KLH) promoted the advantages of eco-driving through 'Workshop and Rally Eco-Driving' which was held on Friday, May 31. The event was part of the Ministry’s 2014 Environment Week Program and followed by 150 participants.
"According to studies, eco-driving has been proven to reduce fuel consumption up to around 10 to 20 percent compared to the conventional driving method. The eco-driving is able to reducing the pollution level, providing a more comfortable driving, and reduce the risks of traffic accidents. This program supports the efficient use of energy," said Deputy Minister for Environment Pollution, MR Karliansyah through the press release as reported by Antara News.
Furthermore, Karliansyah said that this year’s theme for eco-driving is low-sulphur fuel which is believed to be more environmentally friendly compared to fuel with high sulphur contents.
The eco-driving program, Karliansyah said, has been promoted since 1980s in Switzerland and Germany and claimed to be able to save 1.9 million liters of fuel per year.
