TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foxconn has given full support to BlackBerry’s latest product, named Jakarta, during the product introduction at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona yesterday.
During the introduction, BlackBerry CEO, John Chen, was accompanied by Terry Gou, chairman of Foxconn. "We have 100-percent confidence in BlackBerry," said Gou.
Jakarta is another name of Blackberry Z3, the official name of the product. Contradicting to previous rumors, this phone uses touch-screen feature instead of keyboard for navigation.
BlackBerry has also introduced Q20, which uses keyboard and is also made by Foxconn. "Its production fee is too high," Chen said, calling the product 'classic'.
Chen believes Jakarta will be able to compete with low-end Android phones. "BlackBerry has enough features to compete in the market," he said.
The increasingly popular BBM now has more than 85 million active users, increased from 60 million, said the Blackberry CEO.
