Garuda to Join SkyTeam

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - On early March, 2014, Garuda Indonesia will officially become the 20th member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance. Current SkyTeam partners, which will now codeshare with Garuda, include KLM, Air France and Korean Air.
"Garuda customers will have ease of access to routes, networks, and also better access to 1024 destinations around the world," Garuda Director Emirsyah Satar said on Monday, February 10, 2014.
Garuda will also continue to expand its fleet by purchasing 27 new long-and short-haul aircrafts.
"With the fleet expansion, Garuda planes will be an average of 4 and a half years old," said Emirsyah.
Emirsyah said that Garuda has big plans for 2014; including commencing a public rights issue for the first quarter of 2014, finishing the Citilink IPO, the acquisition of Gapura Angkasa, and preparing a dedicated terminal in Denpasar, Bali, as well as expanding maintenance operations.
