TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Another earthquake with 5.3 magnitude hit Banyumas, causing local residents to burst into panic. Widi Harisandi, observer from Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) in Banjaregara, stated that the quake hit at a relatively shallow depth of 33 kilometers, with epicenter located at 68 kilometers South West of Kebumen.
Widi, having installed seismograph to observe the quake in a follow up of Saturday's semi-major quake, noted that there has been 10 quakes, only two of which were big enough to shake the earth.
However, he mentioned that the quake began to be less intensified, compared to the initial quake on Saturday that rattled at 6.5 magnitude. "We will always monitor its development," he said, while citing that the quake has devastated 151 buildings, racking a total loss of Rp2 billion.
