TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matic has confirmed his return to Chelsea, after helping his former team Benfica win against Porto on Sunday. Matic previously played for Chelsea back in 2009 and had played in two Premier League matches for the Blues before leaving to Benfica in 2011.
Chelsea signed Matic for £20.8 million, along with winger Gael Kalkuta on loan as part of the deal. Matic told the press that he longed to play in a "bigger league,” and that it was "the right moment."
The slender player has been known to play as a breaker, similar to Yaya Toure's role in Manchester City. Chelsea's signing of Matic is another of The Blues' succesful winter transfers, intercepting fellow London team Arsenal, which was also in the race for the young Serb.
