TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Floods in several regions have caused vegetable supply to drop, resulting in prices of several commidities to rise. "The most affected are chilli and onion," staff of Kramat Jati Traditional Market’s Data and Information center, Suminto, said this morning.

He said the declining supply has directly risen the price of chilli in the past week. He noted, price of red curly chilli had increased from Rp30,000 to Rp34,000 per kilogram, red big chilli increased from Rp25,000 to Rp28,000 per kilogram, and cayenne pepper has also increased from Rp25,000 to Rp27,000 per kilogram.

Meanwhile, price of onion is stable, between Rp14,000 and Rp15,000 per kilogram. "It is stable because its supply and demand decline at the same time," Suminto said.

Prices of other vegetables have also increased, such as tomato, carrot, and cabbage from Rp5,000 to Rp8,000 per kilogram. Cucumber increased from Rp5,000 to Rp6,000 per kilogram, and potato increased from Rp10,000 to Rp11,000 per kilogram.
