TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Provincial Government keeps conducting the rejuvenation of the mode transportation in the capital city. After the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) construction, Jakarta government will buy 3,000 new metromini buses.
Additional fleet is hoped able to attract Jakarta residents to use public transport than private vehicle. "We'll buy 3,000 new metromini buses. By so, residents can choose public transport than private vehicle," said Jakarta Deputy Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, at City Hall, on Friday.
Those buses will enter into several elite residences. "But, private sector also has a role in it. The main issue is all people living in elite residence have cars. That's why we have to go in there. So the bus will drop off them in shopping malls or offices," he expressed.
Basuki disclosed the bus is not only giving benefit to the metromini, but also a similar transportation companies, such as Kopaja and Kopami. "For short and far-distance tariff, passenger just pays Rp6,000," he told.
