TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Flight delays have started to become a major concern in Indonesia's aviation industry. Passengers are often becoming anxious and even angry, just like what happened on Lion Air delays that occur on September 2013 until the end of October. As a result, the Indonesian Flight Navigation Service Agency (LPPNPI) stated that the air traffic of five airports have been reorganized.

"We organize the schedule so that the time between each landing is not too close," said LPPNPI Director of Safety and Standard Wisnu Darjono to Tempo yesterday.

In addition to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Jakarta), other four airports that are being reorganized are the Juanda Airport (Surabaya), Ngurah Rai Airport(Denpasar), Sultan Hasanuddin Airport (Makassar), and Kualanamu Airport (Medan). Wisnu claimed that, with the reorganization, flight congestion will not be focused at one airport.

"[Reorganization] also reduces the time of delays," he said.

The Head of Public Communication Center at the Transportation Ministry Bambang S. Ervan, added that to reduce the rate of delays, the Ministry had suggested airlines to avoid making a transit at the Soekarno-Hatta airport for 33 specific flight routes, including the Balikpapan-Pontianak route, Banjarmasin-Pontianak route and Pekanbaru-Padang route.
