TEMPO.CO, Xinjiang – Report stated that the Uighur muslims minority in China, which suspected to be responsible for the deadly jeep incident in Tiananmen Square, has been involved in various conflicts with the Chinese Administration and the majority Han ethnics Chinese.
USA Today reported that many Uighur muslims died in several clashes against the Han majority in the last couple of years. Uighur muslims have also complained about religious restrictions applied by the Chinese Administration.
On the other hand, the Chinese government claimed that such accusation has damaged their image. The government also climed that tere are parties who were trying to leave the impression that the government has failed to promote religious tolerance.
Rebiya Kadeer, the President of the World Uighur Congress, stated that accusations pointed towards Uighur in relation to the incident that occurred at Tiananmen Square have cornered Uighur ethnic people's position. Kadeer mentioned that the Chinese government might use the incident as a reason to carry out repressive actions.
