TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Luhut Pangaribuan, the lawyer of former Youth and Sports Minister Andi Mallarangeng, refused to comment on the non-detainment of ex-Democrat Party chief Anas Urbaningrum by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), while the KPK had arrested his client.
Luhut said the arrest of Anas Urbaningrum was up to the KPK’s judgment. “We want to focus on our client’s case,” Luhut said after visiting Andi at the KPK prison on Friday, October 18, 2013.
Andi’s younger brother, Rizal Mallarangeng, was also noncommittal on the issue. “Ask it to our lawyer,” the Mallarangeng family’s spokesman said.
The KPK has named Andi as a suspect in the graft-ridden Hambalang sports center project in Sentul, Bogor. Anas is also suspected of involvement in the project.
The KPK named Andi a suspect in December and arrested him on Thursday. Anas, whom the KPK announced as a suspect in February, remains free.
