Govt's State Expenditures Only Reach 63 Percent

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa has reminded all ministries and state institutions with huge capital expenditures to absorb their budgets optimally. He said he would coordinate with all ministers to accelerate budget absorption, capital expenditures in particular.

“Please make sure that the capital expenditures are used, otherwise they will hamper the economic growth,” Hatta said at his office on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.

The realization of state expenditures to the third quarter this year only reached Rp1,092.7 trillion or 63.3 percent of the 2013 state budget's ceiling of Rp1,726.2 trillion. From this figure, the realization of the central government’s state expenditures has only accounted for 37.5 percent of the targeted Rp196.2 trillion.

The state expenditures to the third quarter, however, are higher than those of the second quarter that stood at 14.4 percent in June, and those of the first quarter that saw 5.6 percent.

Hatta said the non-absorption of budgets at the ministries did not automatically mean they did not spend their capital. “It is possible that the project tenders are already underway, yet the payments have not been made yet.”
