TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Helmi Fauzi, a member of Commission I (Communication Sector) at the House of Representatives, requested the board of Television of Republic of Indonesia (TVRI) to put some concern to its employees in other regions besides Jakarta. He questioned the performance fee that is given only to the central TVRI employees.
Last August, TVRI CEO Farhat Syukri was previously reported to increase the performance fee of Central TVRI employees around Rp500,000 to Rp6 million. Within a month, the policy was cancelled after being criticized by the Monitoring Board.
Nurul Arifin, a politician from the Functional Group Faction (Golkar), delivered the same question, saying that she saw the TVRI directors have less concern to the regional employees. She stated that the quality of TVRI programs were declining by each passing year.
Farhat later justified that the performance fee was granted to the central TVRI employees in accordance to the existing budget. He explained that TVRI regional stations should make use of their existing resources and make cooperation with local institutions.
