TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nearly 75,000 Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI) in Saudi Arabia may not get amnesty from the government of Saudi Arabia. Head of National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Overseas Workers (BNP2TKI) Jumhur Hidayat said, the reason is the processing of amnesty is halted by the slow process from the Saudi Arabian government.
"Indonesia has fastened all process, but it was impeded at the Saudi Arabian immigration," Jumhur said today.
According to Jumhur, the amnesty process in Saudi Arabia’s department of immigration is limited. They only give one day for Indonesian workers, which is Thursday to take care of it. On average, they only process 200 documents while there are 88,000 Indonesian workers who have received travel documents from the Indonesian embassy.
According to BNP2TKI, there is less than 10 percent or 5,752 workers who have finished processing their amnesty. "This number is far below our expectation."
