TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Communications and Information (Kemenkominfo) Tifatul Sembiring denounced Tempo's report on the Subdistrict Internet Service Provider (PLIK) and the Subdistrict Internet Services Vehicles (MPLIK) program as over the top. "If I may describe their report on PLIK/MPLIK with one word, I would call it: LEBAY!" Tifatul tweeted on July 22, 2013. 'Lebay' is slang for exaggerative.
Tifatul claimed that there were flaws in the data, logic, and timeline in the report published in Tempo newspapers and magazines. "There were names that were connected to the crime not based on solid reasoning, but only on forced, weak assumptions. If they believe there were diversion of funds, please go ahead and uncover it. I support them," Tifatul declared.
He further claimed that the PLIK and MPLIK programs were made based on President SBY's appeal in the 2009 National Summit about the dream of "Indonesia Connected," and the 2005 World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) in Tunisia. "The Indonesia government has made a commitment that in 2015, 50 percent of Indonesians will get internet connection," Tifatul said.
