TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - DKI Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) urged the society not to perceive the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding negatively, claiming that the availability of CSR grants is a proof that the regional governor has earned the private sector's trust.
"Many people would like to help us now, which means they trust the regional government. Why are people making a fuss over this?" Jokowi asked in front of his house that faces Taman Suropati, Sunday, July 21, 2013.
He added that he only receives help in the form of materials and finished goods, not cash. Among the provided help are paint, park restorations, and tiered villages establishments.
He refused to name the CSR grant slush funds. "It can only be claimed slush funds if we take the money for ourselves," he reasoned.
A number of projects in Jakarta are currently funded by CSR. Among them are park restoration and village houses projects at Tanah Tinggi, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta.
