TEMPO.CO, Palu – A police headquarter in South Palu, Central Sulawesi, was assaulted on Wednesday evening by two unidentified gunmen. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Awi, a local resident and an eye-witness to the assault, said that the incident happenned very quickly. "At first I heard only one shot. Not long after, I heard three shots," he testified. Awi mentioned that he saw two men in a motorbike, wielding firearms.
Commisioner Saemuda Ali, the Chief of Police of the assaulted headquarter, said that his men tried to return fire before the gunmen ran and headed back to the southern part of the town. On the scene, investigators discovered two slugs of 5.56 millimeters bullet. The slugs indicated that the gunmen used a rifle rather than a pistol.
The assault marks a continuation of a series of attack in Palu after a Molotov bombing on May and the recent suicide-bomb attack.
